Nine connected programmes, from the school clubs network to public conservation dialogue. Every one lists who it is for, when it runs, where it happens and how to join.
A national network of school-based environmental clubs, each led by a teacher coordinator and supported by the Foundation with resources, project ideas, site visits and equipment. Clubs run clean-ups, tree plantings, biodiversity surveys and their own school campaigns.
Who it is for: Primary and secondary schools, Regions 1-6
When: Runs through the school year, with club visits scheduled term by term
Where: 67 partner clubs, including Queen's College, The Bishop's High School, St. Stanislaus College, St. Rose's High and Marian Academy
How to apply: A teacher or head of department writes to info@emcfoundation.gy with the school name, region and the name of the proposed club coordinator. The Foundation follows up with a visit and a starter pack.
Environment plus science, tech, engineering and maths
Hands-on sessions that use Guyana's own ecosystems as the classroom: water quality testing, drone education, coding and data collection, renewable-energy builds and conservation challenges pitched at club level.
Who it is for: Club members from upper primary through sixth form
When: Monthly sessions during term, with an intensive block over the July-August holidays
Where: Delivered at partner schools and field sites across the coast and hinterland
How to apply: Open to registered environmental clubs. Coordinators request a session date by email; new schools join the clubs network first.

Environmental Club Coordinators Connect
Our annual gathering for the teachers who make clubs happen
A full-day forum where coordinators share what worked, plan the year ahead and take new material back to their schools. The 3rd Annual Connect brought together around 40 coordinators from Regions 1 to 6.
Who it is for: Teacher coordinators of partner clubs
When: Annually in August. Most recent edition: 26 August 2026
Where: Georgetown, with travel support for coordinators from outlying regions
How to apply: Invitations go to every registered coordinator. If your club is new, register it before the July cut-off to be included.
A speaker and discussion series hosted with the Protected Areas Trust, bringing policymakers, scientists, diplomats and students into the same room. The fifth edition ran under the theme “Inspiring Change, One Conversation at a Time” and featured Rt Hon David Lammy, MP.
Who it is for: Students, educators, partners and the general public
When: Several editions a year. Fifth edition: 31 July 2026
Where: Georgetown venues, in collaboration with the Protected Areas Trust
How to apply: Editions are announced on our News page and by email. Schools can request a block of student seats in advance.
A sculptural information tree carrying facts about Guyana's biodiversity and environmental challenges, placed where people already gather so the learning is unavoidable. Recipients include schools, public institutions and partners such as the British High Commission in Guyana.

When: Installed on request through the year. Most recent presentation: 31 July 2026
Where: Schools and public spaces nationwide
How to apply: Institutions submit a short request by email describing the site and the audience it serves. The Foundation handles design and installation.

Student Internships
Practical conservation experience
Six-week placements for tertiary students who want field and programme experience in environmental conservation: assisting club visits, supporting E-STEM sessions, collecting field data and helping produce educational material.
Who it is for: University of Guyana and other tertiary students
When: Six weeks, usually over the July-August break
Where: Foundation office at 60 Area H Ogle, East Coast Demerara, plus field sites
How to apply: Send a CV, a short statement of interest and a letter from your department to info@emcfoundation.gy at least six weeks before your intended start date.
Rainforest monitoring with the Saxacalli community
Community-led biodiversity monitoring in the rainforest around Saxacalli, on the Essequibo. Residents and students record wildlife, track habitat health and build a local record of what lives there, supported by Foundation training and equipment.
Who it is for: Saxacalli community members, students and visiting clubs
When: Recurring monitoring visits through the year

Structured surveys along the Mahaica watershed record species and habitat condition over time, creating a baseline that communities, students and researchers can build on.

Awareness, education and monitoring work focused on Guyana's giant river otters — the species our guide Ollie is drawn from. The programme combines school outreach, storytelling material and field observation to build support for otter habitat.

Where: River systems across Guyana's interior
How to apply: Clubs can request an otter-focused session for their school by email.
Coordinators meet each year to swap ideas, plan projects and take fresh material back to their schools. From Region 1 to Region 6, clubs run clean-ups, plantings, surveys and their own campaigns.
